Pastor Michael Martin

Pastor Michael Martin

In April 1972, a young man attended an Easter Service in the Gospel Hall Church on Victor Street in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The Pastor officiating this church service, gave an example of a funeral service with a casket and a fake diseased person in it that as people passed by paying their last respects to the "dead person"the pastor asked to picture oneself in that casket and to ask the question, “Where would your soul be if I were inside that casket. There are only two places my soul will be, either in Heaven or in hell.” That young man was Michael Martin who made sure were his soul will be if he were to die that day by asking Jesus to come into his heart and to become his Lord and personal Savior.

Michael Martin then moved to Calgary, Alberta where he joined Mount Calvary Baptist Church. There he served as a Deacon and as a Treasurer and even served as a Bus Driver in the church’s bus ministry. It was there while driving the church's bus that he met his wife, Feme. They were married in August 31, 1985 at Tabernacle Baptist Church because Mount Calvary Baptist Church met in a daycare centre.

In 1988, Mr. and Mrs. Martin moved to Western Baptist Church after Mount Calvary Baptist Church dissolved. In 1998 Michael Martin became an intern pastor at WBC. Then, in 2002 Michael Martin was voted by the church to become pastor after the former pastor announced his retirement.

Since that time, Pastor Michael Martin has served faithfully in the church officiating weddings, funerals, and many church activities. Pastor Martin now has two children, a son in law, and their first grandson born two years ago. The church has been greatly blessed during this time as new ministries have popped up for teens and young people. May God continue blessing this family and this church. Western Baptist Church is located in the heart of Montgomery inside the City of Calgary.
