About Us
History of our Church
We are an independent, Bible-believing Baptist Church located in the Community of Montgomery, in northwest Calgary . Our church building was constructed by the congregation, and has been in this location since 1980. Since that time we have grown as a Christian ministry to people in various parts of the City of Calgary . Our Pastor is committed to this work of preaching and teaching the Bible, and ministering to the needs of individuals and families.
Preaching and Teaching
Our ministries must be all Bible-based, meaning that they are centered upon Jesus Christ and His Word. Top priority is given to teaching and preaching from the Bible, in order that people can know God's will in their lives. The Pastor, in his weekly messages, addresses issues that are relevant to the spiritual needs of the church, and to visitors who are always welcome to attend our services. Our invitation extends to all who desire to hear and learn about God and themselves through the Scriptures. Families with children will find Sunday School classes for all ages, including adults. The teaching is helpful, as it gives God's mind to matters affecting everyday life in our families, friendships, workplaces and society in general. We use only the King James Version (1611) of the Bible which is God's faithfully preserved Word in the English-speaking language.
Our Views About the Family
We consider the family, consisting of a married man and woman, to be the basic building block of society. Our church places a strong emphasis on the spiritual and physical well-being of our families. The goal, in spite of our human imperfections, is to live balanced lives devoting ourselves to our families, our church and our community. We uphold the sanctity of marriage as God ordained it, and resist all efforts to disrupt or break the marriage covenant. It is our belief that the parents are given primary responsibility to educate their children in a manner glorifying to God. Our congregation also strives to create an atmosphere where all people, whether single or married, feel part of the church family.
Christian Fellowship
Christian fellowship is an important ministry in our church. We enjoy meeting together regularly as a congregation and worshipping the Lord. It is important also to visit one another and do things together at other times during the week, as our individual schedules permit. These occasions are good opportunities to develop meaningful friendships, and they allow us to minister to each others' individual needs, something that is often not as effective in the larger group meetings. Some of the most blessed experiences are those in which we get to know each other as real people.
Our Baptist Identity
We are Baptist. That does not mean we are the only ones who are going to heaven or serving God, but it does point out that we have specific beliefs that distinguish us. Our doctrinal statement is open to those who are interested in learning about Baptists. Labels are important.
